But at the end of the day I have 8 Frans and not 8 different characters. Vanilla XII is like if I choose everyone to be a foebreaker/white mage on a run. What's best is that unless I choose the same jobs, no one else will be able to replicate Fran. Making Fran a foebreaker /shikari is just hilariously awesome.

They give a focus and clear path, but I really love being able to choose my character's jobs. I think a job randomizer would be a fun playthrough, where each LP node is random.īut at the end of the day I just prefer ZA because I love job systems. It's not too hard to go on youtube or reddit and find an optimal choice for your characters if you're into that, but the game is made where the job selection doesn't really matter. I love vanilla XII, I bought the steel book when it first came out, but ZA has shown me a better way to play XII. The level up system is the only way to play the game and what ends up happening is every playthrough is the same, though a different face may go a different path, they all end up in the same place eventually.

While I love VIII for being free form, XII original doesn't have the supplemental features (like refining, cards, etc.) that really makes it a positive to have such a free form system level up system. Though, I think both are great, I just think ZA pulls ahead a little bit due to the direction that the classes give you. So, if you're thinking of buying FF XII ZA, get it on PC and try both?
